Jeannette T. Goldsmith
Principal
Jeannette Goldsmith is a principal with McCallum Sweeney Consulting (MSC), providing site selection services and economic development consulting to companies and organizations worldwide.
With more than fifteen years of experience, Ms. Goldsmith’s background is concentrated in site location consulting and site evaluation/certification efforts. Specific experience in site location consulting includes projects in both the manufacturing (specifically aerospace, advanced materials, and energy sectors) and office sectors. Her specific responsibilities have included project alignment, site and community evaluations, and incentive negotiations.
Ms. Goldsmith most recent project experience includes SunCoke Energy, a headquarters relocation from Knoxville, Tennessee to metropolitan Chicago, Illinois. Other recent projects include American Titanium Works, which announced in November 2008 that it will be building a titanium mill in South Carolina; siting a new carbon fiber plant for Cytec Engineered Materials; a final assembly location for Alenia Aeronautica’s C27J aircraft; and working with Eastman Chemical Company on the analysis of potential locations for a new PET plant. Ms. Goldsmith was also involved in Nissan North America’s headquarter relocation from Los Angeles to Nashville. In addition, she served as the project manager on the Boeing 7E7 Final Assembly siting project, as well as the Vought Aircraft / Alenia Aeronautica 7E7 supplier site project.
Ms. Goldsmith’s current economic development assignments include the South Carolina Department of Commerce Certified Site Program and the Mississippi Power Certified Site Program. A major effort was the mega-site identification and certification program for the Tennessee Valley Authority (2004) on which she served as project manager. In addition, she is currently leading the development and implementation of target industry site evaluation program for Duke Energy (currently in its seventh year). She has also worked with the State of Washington to develop and implement a new marketing strategy. Other significant projects include the Pennsylvania SelectSites program (2002), the development of a Headquarters Recruitment Strategy for the State of Tennessee (2001), and a comprehensive strategic plan for the City of Oak Ridge (2000).
Ms. Goldsmith achieved a Masters of Public Policy from Duke University and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Smith College. Ms. Goldsmith was honored with the Graduate Student of the Year Award from the Terry Sanford Institute in 1995 is a member of the South Carolina Economic Developers Association and the International Economic Development Council.
Ms. Goldsmith is married with two children and lives in Greenville, South Carolina.
