McCallum Sweeney Consulting (MSC) is a site selection and incentive negotiations firm located in downtown Greenville, SC. Our consulting services benefit leading national and international firms seeking locations for new facilities or relocating operations, as well as those managing location decisions for competitive expansions or selective consolidations. MSC has an opening for an entry-level Consultant position, the first of three professional employment levels. The Consultant track (Consultant I through Consultant V) is a five-year track leading to designation as a Senior Consultant. The Consultant position participates in all aspects of the company’s professional services, including active participation in both site selection and economic development projects.
Consultant responsibilities include working with project teams on site selection projects, including site and infrastructure assessments (proposal assessments as well as field evaluations), demographic analysis, GIS mapping analysis, labor market evaluations (including field interviews), financial analysis (including project pro formas), tax and incentive analysis, and considerable report writing and production.
The Consultant will be directed by and interact with other professional MSC staff, will be responsible for extensive communication with economic development representatives across North America, and will interact with client representatives.
Extensive travel is required for the Consultant position, sometimes with very short notice. The work at MSC is project-oriented, and therefore driven by deadlines.
MSC is seeking applicants with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (particularly in business, economics, geography or a related field) and preferably a Master’s degree. Required experience is a minimum of one year with a development firm, economic development agency, or other related business. Relevant internship experience is acceptable.
Applicants must be proficient in office software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or proficiency in a foreign language is a plus.
Attention to detail is paramount for success in the Consultant position. Communication skills are also critical to the Consultant position. Additionally, a professional appearance, demeanor, and presentation are important.
Consultants must be willing and able to travel, sometimes with very short notice. Consultants must also be willing and able to work non-traditional hours when required in order to meet client deadlines.
